Nitrogen Management
“Many ideas grow better when transplanted into another mind than the one where they sprang up.”
We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to engage the collective brainpower and experience of you all. Del and I have reflected on individual conversations and the information presented and have already made some practical changes in how we manage nitrogen and more broadly, farm, moving into 2025.
Reciprocally, I wanted to provide some of the resources we have used in quantifying the health of our soil management practices to date:
- Available Nutrients and Value in Manure – this is the Ontario study I referenced with the integration of sheep manure as a fertilizer supplement in our compost and rotational grazing program
- Benchmark soil maps for Elephant Island farms – 2765 Naramata Rd and 1159 Nuttal Rd.
- Soil analysis results for Elephant Island Farms
And being in the business of farming drinks, with upcoming holiday meals on heavy rotation, I wanted to pass along an invitation to purchase some delicious Thanksgiving or Christmas season wine and cider cellar staples. Made to accompany beautiful BC grown meals.
